Disability Insurance
Employees have the option to enroll in both Short-Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) coverage.
How it Works

If you're unable to work due to a covered illness or injury, Short-Term Disability can provide income protection. STD pays in addition to sick leave. After your waiting period, STD pays 60% of weekly salary for up to ~25 weeks. If the disability continues after STD is exhausted, Long-Term Disability begins on day 181 and pays 60% of monthly salary up to normal Social Security retirement age or until you are no longer disabled, whichever comes first. You may also start/stop sick leave on LTD, but the benefit is offset by any other income.
